The country has an open economy with significant degree of stability. Malaysia has transformed itself in the last two decades from a producer of raw materials into a full fledged multi sector economy, ready to absorb new technologies and products. The countries with its healthy foreign exchange reserves and relatively small external debt provides succor to the exporting community. The economy of Malaysia is on the upswing and its trade relations with ASEAN and other countries of South East Asia are rapidly increasing. India is the largest trading partner of Malaysia in the South East Asian Region. India’s exports to Malaysia have shown a healthy increase from US$ 481.30 million during 1998 to US$ 772.42 million s during 2001. Textiles is one of the major items of Indian Export .
